I'm Taking the Summer Off

I"m taking the summer off from scrapping. BUT, I'm going to take a ton of pictures this summer to scrap in the fall and winter.

I need to get some house work and yard work done and get my ass of this couch.

So here are the last few pages that I have made....

June is Almost My Favorite Month

July is my absolute favorite month and August is second...but June is not far behind!!!

Because June means the school year is almost over....and it's almost SUMMER!

I've been slacking on my scrapping and blogging in favor of outdoor activities and dreaming of summer. And so far it's been a pretty nice spring and I have been trying to enjoy it.

Spring is like practice for summer.

So my official last day of school isn't until June 23, but there are so many end of the year tests and activities, that this is the downhill slide and all I have to do is ride it out. I am trying to stay low key and prepare my students for their exams and just enjoy the last few weeks. (we'll see how long that attitude lasts)

But, I do have a few layouts to post. This first one is from one of those spring days when we were trying to make the most of the good weather. Jerry went kayaking and I took a walk around Lincoln Woods. For this LO I used a new Collab kit from Bubblescrap Designs and Connie Prince Designs called Boy-sterous. It is available at Scrapbook Bytes and Scrapable. The photo mask on the blue paper is by Dogs Day Designs from My Life and Scrap.

This next one is of my neice Willa in her basketbal uniform. I made this LO with the May Mega Collab from My Life and Scrap called Mama's Kitchen.

And finally this one is of my dear friend's beautiful daughter Marie. For this LO I used The Sweet Life, by Bubblescrap Designs.

So that's all for now....maybe I'll scrap a few more LO's before the summer laziness really hits me!

Lazy Day

I took the day off to get some stuff done around the house and in the yard. So far all I have done was eat some cereal and clear a couple of episodes of Lost and United States of Tara off my DVR list. I have a few LO's that I have made in the past week, so I figured I'd delay the working part of my day a little longer and get them posted.
Here's two I made with the new Mega kit from MLAS called Let the Sunshine In.

And this one I made with a picture I stole from my daughter's Facebook page. I used a kit from Dream Big Designs.

So now I WILL GET DRESSED AND GET SOME WORK DONE!

Sometimes I'm Busy Doing Nothing

It seems like when all the girls were living at home and I was working full time I had a million things to do and I got most of it done. Now, I have all the time in the world to do things, and I cannot really say that I am getting much of anything done. I have been saying for weeks that as soon as the pollen stops flying, I will wash the windows....and...any day now, I will clean up the mess in the cellar....and...As soon as I get a chance, I will finish the book that I took out from the library about a month ago...and...before the school year ends, I will correct that pile of projects that I collected from my students in April...and...when the weather warms up, I will plant some flowers and do some weeding.

BUT, what I have been doing lately is... a lot of nothing.

I go for walks, I go out to eat, I do a little bit of scrapping and I watch a LOT of TV...I watch whatever is on...basketball, hockey, baseball, Lost, American Idol, House, Old Christine, In the Middle, Modern Famly, 2 1/2 Men, Big Bang Theory, Pacific, United States of Tara, Grey's Anatomy, Glee....I'm sure there are more...but this list is sad enough. I love the mindless numbness of sitting and watching.

Maybe it's all about getting old and slowing down. I'll be 50 in a couple of months, and its been a busy 50 years. I've really had enough of being busy and I think I will just sit around and do whatever the hell I feel like doing for a little while.

But, I do have some LO's that I did in the past month. Sadly, It's been almost that long since my last blog. Oh well, like I said...I've been busy!

For these first two I used a kit from Bubblescrap Designs called Freshly Squeezed. I stole these pictures from Katie's and Laurie's Facebook pages.

For this LO, I used a another one of Bubblescrap Designs kits called Here Comes the Sun. (another stolen Facebook picture)

And for this one I used Bubblescrap Designs kit called Advent of Summer.

And last but not least, I have this silly LO that I did with a new kit from Rucola Designs called Over the Ocean.

Now that my blog is updated (this took me a couple of days to finish!) I think I need to rest.

Gotta Get Organized

I'm becoming a little disorganized now that the weather is improving and I've been trying to get my butt off the couch and outside to get some fresh air and exercise.

So it's been a loooooong time since I have posted on this blog and I have a bunch of LO's to post.

I stole this picture of my neice Willa from my sister's facebook page. I used a blog train freebie called Sun Fruits.

This is my sweet little friend Victoria Marie. For this LO I used a template from Kate Designs April Brag Bag, wordart is a blog freebie from @Jacquie, the kit is Garden of Dreams by Tempus Fugit and the font is Alabama.

Here's another picture "stolen" from my sister. This one is of my parents and I used the kit Reduce, Reuse, Recycle by Rucola Designs and Bubblescrap Designs.

I used the same kit for this second LO and I used a template by Kate Designs. These are pictures of some spring cleaning and repairs I had done by my husband, brother and cousin. Gotta love having boys around to do all the dirty work!

And here's another set of pictures from my sister. I used Rise and Shine (Scrapbook Bytes and Scrapable) a new release by Bubblescrap Designs.

For this next LO, I used one of the last Christmas pictures I had to scrap and I used the kit from Kate Designs April Grab Bag called Retro.

Here's another picture of precious Victoria Marie. For this LO I used Little Ones from Bubblescrap Designs. She has her kits at My Life and Scrap, Scrapable and Scrapbook Bytes. I scraplifted this from a LO by justbnsharon called Sweet Angel Kisses in the MLAS gallery.

And finally here's a LO of my Godson McKale and his friends at a baseball game. For this LO I used a blog freebie from Mawkinberd's Nest.

This past week was vacation week and I went to NC to visit my daughter and grandkids. My other two daughters and my son-in-law went there too and we had a fun week hanging out together. I took about 400 pictures, so I will have a lot to scrap with in the next few weeks.

I hope I can manage to balance some scrapping time with some fresh air and exercise time!

Sun, Sun, Sun....Here It Comes

The rain finally stopped and the sun came out today!!! There's no school tomorrow and the weather for the weekend it predicted to be sunny and warm. It doesn't get any better than this. (Well not until June 24th!) I have no plans, but plenty to do if I feel like it, so I guess we'll see what the weekend brings.

And here's one more LO I did for the project 52 journaling challenge at MLAS. For this LO I used the MLAS December Mega Kit called Elegant Christmas.

Rain, Rain GO AWAY!

We are in the middle of the Great Flood of 2010. I'm going to go out and take a few pictures of the river and get Jerry to take me out to dinner. The poor guy has been in the basement for two days now, and every once in a while I check on him and he says he's all set, so I go back to my computer and TV. I'm glad cleaning cellars is a "boy" job!
Actually it's not really so bad for us because we just have some water in our basement and we (I mean he) had to pump it out and use a wet vac. We always keep most of our junk off the floor so it's just a matter of cleaning up the water.
There are people all over the state that are in much worse situations. I've seen some pictures of cars covered with water and houses and businesses with 2-3 feet of water in them!
But, I'm sure he's getting tired because it stopped raining about 8 hours ago and the water is still coming in! Maybe I'll take a shift and let him get some rest.

Here's a link to some pictures I just took of the Blackstone River. One of my favorite restaurants is conveniently located right near this section of the river, so I did get to go out to dinner!

And finally, here's another LO I did of our weekend in Maine a couple of weeks ago. For this LO I used a new kit from Bubblescrap Designs called Basket Surprise and I think it is supposed to be released tomorrow at MLAS. AND tomorrow is Thrify Thursday, so there will probably be some great sales going on!

It's was a nice restful weekend. I got some scrapping done and Jerry did everything else. What's not to love about that! He is working on being "the best husband in the world" and I for one am not complaining. I think his 30 years of husband training are finally paying off.
One of the LO's I did was for a journaling prompt at My Life and Scrap. I had to write about a life altering event. And for those of you who know me, you know I could have written about one of my medical issues, or the birth of my children or granchildren (especially the first born in each of these categories) hahaha.....but I chose to write about attending and graduating from college.
I am really enjoying these prompts and at the end of the year, I'll have a book....All About Me.
For this LO I used Bubblescrap Designs Spring Cake.

Here's another LO from our trip to Florida in February. I am running out of pictures again, and will have to hunt through my stash of old ones, or maybe I'll have to take another trip!
For this LO I used a new kit by RebeccaPSP called Melancholic Bliss.

And here's another LO with the same kit. These are some pictures I took of my Godson McKale last weekend when we went to Maine to visit my sister and her family. McKale had a blast playing in the yard all day Saturday and it was soooo fun to watch him.
I have a few more LO's to post, so I'm sure I will blog again in a few days...for now I have to check on when my dinner will be ready...

I Finally Have Some New LO's

I don't know why I haven't had time to blog. I can't really think of anything that is keeping me that busy. I worked late a couple of days last week, but I haven't been exercising and Jerry's been doing most of the cooking and cleaning, so I really have no excuse. I think I am becoming a VERY lazy old lady!

I have a few LO's to post, but I have to wait for the kits release date. I guess that will force me to blog a few more times this week.

I did these LO's with pictures that I "stole" from Katie's facebook page and a new kit from Rucola Designs called Rabbits and Chickens. It is due to be released really soon (maybe tomorrow). So be sure to stop in the shop at MLAS and check out this kit and all of her others.

I found this template freebie at the MLAS shop. Kate is going to take some time off from designing to spend more time with her family, so you might want to get some of her great templates before they are gone.

Today I Am Counting My Blessings

No matter how tired I am, or how crappy I think my week is going to be, it's never as bad as I thought is would be and it's always worse for some of my co-workers. So this week I'm trying to keep a good attitude, be a supportive friend and count my blessings.
We are in the middle of a commisioner's visit (inspection) at school, but the kids have been handling it well and have been mostly cooperative. I know this is going to cost me lots of money at the end of the week, because I feel like they all deserve some treats as thanks for their good behavior. But...believe me, even in high school some cookies or donuts will buy me some good behavior for a couple of weeks. So it will be well worth it to have snack-time on Friday just to say thanks to the kids.
This week I worked on a couple more Christmas LO's and this one makes me laugh, even though it wasn't really that funny at the time. I used Bubblescrap Designs newest kit called Oh The Boys and it is available now at MLAS.

And this one makes me laugh too. But only because my grandkids are so cute and this is was such a fun day. One more month and I get to visit them and I can't wait!
For this LO I used another one of Bubblescrap Designs kit called Cheerful Holiday.

Rainy Saturday

It's a crappy rainy day, so my goal is to get caught up on my scrapping and school work and clearing off my DVR list. So I'm pretty sure at the end of the weekend I will be well rested and ready for another crazy week of school.
I signed up to do a few days a week of homework club, we're being visited (inspected) by the state department of education, and we have parent conference night. So it will be a long and exhausting week at Woonsocket High School.

I'm posting a few new LO's that I worked on in the past week. This first one is from our vacation in Florida in February. I used a new kit from Rucola Designs called Adventura Mejicana. It is due to be released on March 15 at MLAS. It's full of really bright colors and fun elements and I loved working with it!

I used the same kit for these next two LO's, but I also used a template from Dogs Day Designs. Every week at MLAS Carolyn releases a free template and suggests a theme for the P52 photo challenge. This is actually from week 5 so I guess I'm a little behind schedule. But, I'm trying to get caught up and I'm just kind of doing the weeks in random order as the pictures opportunities present themselves. These are some pictures I took last weekend when we had great weather! I'm really happy that we took advantage of the day because this weekend is going to be a complete wash-out.

For these next two LO's I used a new kit from Bubblescrap Designs called Oh the Boys. This kit is due to be released on March 16 at My Life and Scrap and Scrapbook Bytes.

Here's the template for week 9 of project 52. As I write this, it is still free, but after the week it will be $1.00 and there will be a freebie for week 10. So check in each week and try the challenge. I think it will make a great photo-journal in the end!

My Head is Spinning

My head is spinning...work is crazy. It's not the kids so much as all the other BS. Every day there is a new initiative, a meeting, or someone who wants to change something. I just want to go in and teach....but all this nonsense keeps taking me away from my classroom and interrupting the flow of teaching and it's making me cranky. (well maybe just crankier than usual)
I am getting really tired of all of it!
I come home and try to lose myself in my scrapping and I have a bunch of new LO's, but I can only post this one for now. In a few days I will have some some LO's with new kits from Rucola Designs and Bubblescrap Designs. They are both due to be released on the 15th, so I will post my LO's then. They both have such great kits and I have a lot of fun working with them.
For now here's one LO I did for the color inspiration challenge at MLAS. The challenge was to use only the colors black, white and yellow. This LO is bright and colorful, but I will never forget how scared Jerry looked when he came down from his parasail! This is a new kit from Bubblescrap Designs and Dogs Day Designs called Yellow Inspiration.

I Will Not Give Up

I dug in my heels and worked my butt off this week. I think I'm one of those people who will not believe it can't be done. So.... I will not give up on my kids and no matter how limited their abilities are, I will figure out a way to teach them some algebra.
I will try to rally those who can, to teach those who can't, and we will be a team. I had a couple of bad days and a couple of good days, so to me, it was a good week.

Today I had to explain to a class of 15 and 16 year olds that chickens did not give birth to baby chicks and that the eggs they sell in the grocery store are really unfertilized chicken eggs, that if fertilized would have "hatched" into chicks. They looked at me in disbelief and wondered how the eggs could possibly ever get fertilized. That was a conversation I refused to have and I told them to google it and tell me about it tomorrow. These city kids have a really narrow realm of experiences and every day I am surprised by what they have never heard of.

Here are my latest LO's. This one I did with a kit from Bubblescrap Design's called Spring Cake. I love these pictures of my beautiful daughter and nieces. They are growing up so fast, and it was so nice to see them together at Christmas all grown up and chatting about their lives.

Here's one of my grandaughters Julianna and Cadence. Jules had her hair crimped and she looked so cute. She really is a great big sister, and Cadence is lucky to have her to look up to. For this LO I used Bubblescrap Designs kit called Take My Breath Away .

I participated in a photo swap challenge at MLAS.
I sent a picture of my mom to Vicki and she made this LO for me. I really love the way it came out. It reminds me of what a great time I had hanging out with my mom in Florida. She really had a lot of fun and I enjoyed watching her.

Vicki sent me a picture of her cat Rex and this is what I did with a kit from Rucola Designs called Fresh & Wet. It was fun to make a LO for someone else and kinda different for me to scrap a picture of a cat.

Do you Know What Really Sucks???

Do you know what really sucks???
Going to work everyday and working so hard that you are physically and emotionally exhausted from 30 kids sucking every ounce of your energy away. And then coming home to watch the news and find out that it really wasn't good enough.
It doesn't matter to the rest of the world or the media, that the kids you are trying to teach are so needy that sometimes your head is spinning from the amount of attention that each of them individually requires (even though there are 30 of them staring at you at all times)
Why is it my fault that some of them stayed up all night playing video games, so they are asleep and drooling on their desks?
Why is is my fault that they have missed more than 5 out of the 16 days since the semester started and now they don't understand what is going on in class?
Why is it my fault that they haven't ever really passed a math class, but somehow now that they are in high school, I have to get them ready to pass a high-stakes test?
The list is loooooooonger than this, but I think you get the idea.
SO....this has not been a great couple of weeks in the Lapierre household.
Thank God I have scrapping as an escape from work.

This weeks Project 52 journaling challenge at MLAS was to write about the person who has had the most influence on my life. A lot of people wrote about parents, grandparents or teachers etc... But the more I thought about it, the more I just had to write about Jerry again. When I do the math and realize that I have been married for 30 out of almost 50 years of life....then who else could I say has had the "most" influence on me. So here he is again, the subject of my admiration and undying love.
For this LO I used the new kit from the designers at MLAS called Totally Devoted.

And here are a couple of LO's from pictures that I "lifted" off of my sister Laurie's facebook page. They are both of her daughter Willa at her father/daughter dance. I just think she is one of the prettiest little girls I have ever seen. For these two LO's I used the other new February Mega Kit called And Many More.

I Need Another Vacation

We had a nice week in Florida visiting with my parents, but it wasn't easy to be back at work. The state of RI is attacking teachers and Jerry's school was the first target. It seems that we teachers are to blame for the students' lack of motivation and success on the high stakes testing. I don't think the next few months are going to be much fun at work, because I'm sure Woonsocket will be next school system to be attacked.
On lighter note, my kids are complaining that I haven't blogged in a while, I guess they are my audience here, so I better keep them happy. So here are some scraps....I worked on a few LO's for Bubblescrap Designs and Rucola Designs, and I have a bunch of LO's to post so I will try to get them all up this week.
Here's a LO with some pictures of our day kayaking. I had to give up my usual seat to my mom, so she got to be paddled around by Jerry and I had to really work. I wasn't a happy camper, but I sucked it up and tried to have fun for my mom and Elizabeth's sake. They both had a good time, so it was worth the sore muscles and blisters. Next time, I get the passenger seat.
For this LO I use Spring Cake by Bubblescrap Designs.

Vacation Time

I spent the day packing!!! Monday morning instead of heading for work, we are heading to the airport and flying to Florida for a week of rest. I feel kind of guilty, because I haven't actually done very much since Christmas that I really need to rest, but it will be fun to be able to be outside without wearing a winter coat and mittens. I am promising myself that I will get lots of exercise and fresh air to make up for the countless hours I have spent sitting on the couch with my laptop and TV. I will miss my TV, but I am bringing my the laptop, so I can stay connected to the world.
We really don't have big plans for the week in Florida, but I'm bringing my camera and I plan on taking a bunch of pictures to scrap. We're bringing our niece Elizabeth with us and going to visit my parents, so I am looking foward to spending time with all of them.
Here's my layout from the Friday night speed scrap at MLAS. I did this LO of my nieces and my grandaughter from Christmas. They were all so cute together and we had a such great time throughout the holiday weekend.
This LO is made with the newest MLAS Mega kit that will be released on the 15th. This kit is called Totally Devoted and there is another one called And Many More. I made this LO into a QP, so check back here in a bit and I will have a link for you. Look how cute my grandkids look all dressed up in formal wear. They did this photo shoot for a fund raiser and I love the way the picture came out.
There's a big party going on a My Life and Scrap and tomorrow is the beginning of the blog train and treasure hunt and the birthday bash challenges. I will try to keep up with everything while I am on vacation. Thank God my mom finally got high speed internet!

My Life and Scrap Birthday Sales and Challenges

Last Sunday I finally got up off my butt and went outside and took a walk. It was only about 30 degrees outside, but the sun was shining and I was feeling a little restless, so I forced myself to get UP and OUT. It really was a beautiful day and Jerry and I had a great walk, and I had fun taking some pictures. I took over 100 pictures and used a few to make these layouts.

The first two layouts are for the template and lyrics challenges at My Life and Scrap and the two others are for the Week 6 P52 Photo Challenge.

For these first two layouts I used a Mega Kit from MLAS called April Showers and the template is from Kate Designs.

The prompt for this weeks photo challenge was pets. Since I don't have any pets I decided to watch a flock of geese for a little while and they were actually quite active and I had a good time taking their pictures.

For these layouts I used RebeccaPSP's kit called Fall-ing for U and the template is from Dogs Day Designs.

I've been working on a couple of layouts with the new Mega Kits that will be released on February 15th, so check back in a couple of days to see those.

Busy Doing Nothing

I feel like I've been busy, but I don't really know what I've gotten done. Everytime I check my "to-do" list I realize I still have a lot of things to do that I don't feel like doing. So I pick up my computer (and turn on the TV) and do some scrapping.
I did get this LO done for Bubblescrap Designs and RebeccaPSP's new kit called Vintage Euphoria. I think the LO came out good because the picture is so great. It breaks my heart every time I look at it. My son-in-law left for a 7 month deployment about 1 month ago, so my daughter has a long wait ahead of her.

There are a lot of great and fun things going on a My Life and Scrap in the next month. They are celebrating their 1st birthday and have added more challenges and a lot of great sales.

And there will be two new great Mega-kits released on the 15th, so I've been working on some QP's that I will use as freebies really soon.

Long Exhausting Week

It's the beginning of a new semester at school. That means starting all over with new classes full of new students. It's great to get a fresh start, but exhausting to get everything organized and running smoothly. Some kids do not adjust well to change, and I 've had my share of issues this week.

So, every day this week, I've come home from work and done some planning and preparing and then I crash. I'm too tired to scrap and too tired to blog. So here it is Thursday and this is my first entry of the week.

I did this LO last weekend for the Project 52 Photo Challenge at My Life and Scrap. The theme was comfy.

I hope I get more energy in the next few days, but for now I'm going to watch TV and crash.

My Life In Scrap Weekly Journaling Assignment

This week's My Life In Scrap theme was "write about your job" so here is my LO for that challenge. I used a kit from RebeccaPSP called Decadance. I love kits with black and red and this one has a lot of great elements to work with. I worked on this LO for a couple of hours this morning and now that I'm finally posting it here, I found a typo....gggrrrrr! I hate that.

This LO I did for the Saturday afternoon speed scrap at MLAS. I'm so glad I took a lot of pictures at Christmas. I made a bunch of pages already, and I still have some to scrap. I used another kit by RebeccaPSP for this one. It's called Love is Funky.

I feel like crap this weekend. PMS at my age is not a good thing. I wish I could just be done with it already. I'll be 50 in a few months and I have had enough cramps to last me a lifetime. Maybe if I got off my butt and did somthing I would feel better....and then again maybe I'll just go and take a nap!

Speed Scraps at My Life and Scrap

There have been weekly speed scraps going on at MLAS. Every Friday night at 9(EST) and Saturday afternoon at 2(EST). Last night I did this LO of my niece Elizabeth and granddaughter Cadence making cookies at Christmas. I used a kit from Rucola Designs called Miss Metal. Is It Thursday already?

It's been a crazy busy week. I had a meeting after school on Monday and I came home to find out that a squirrel had come down the chimney and made itself at home in our house. It ate some chocolates and left a trail of wrappers and sooty little footprints all over the kitchen and dining room. Jerry thought he had it re-trapped in the fireplace, but on Tuesday (after another long day) it had gotten through again and made more messes. So we went out to dinner and left the back door open in hopes that it would let itself out. Oh noo...apparently our squirrel goes to bed early or is afraid of the dark and it did not make its exit so easily. So the next day Jerry stayed home from work and tried the leave-the-back-door-open-trick again during the day, BUT, that still didn't work, so he finally borrowed a trap from our neighbor and filled it with yummy snacks....and that did the trick! The stupid squirrel risked his life for a Fig Newton! So we caught the little critter and then let him out in the back yard.
Part of me thought he might just try to get back in the house today for some more candy or cookies, but I hope he stays away. Maybe his time in the cage was enought to scare him for a while.

It's the end of the semester and exam week and we had a lot of cleaning to do in the book room, so for the past two days I've been packing and unpacking and hauling books out of a dusty nasty closet. It was good to get the job done, but I'm wiped out. I've been coming home exhausted and I haven't gotten much scapping done, but I did finish a couple of LO's that I had started over the weekend.
The first two pages are for week 4 of Project52 at My Life and Scrap. The theme was to write about your hometown, so Jerry and I took a walk around Woonsocket on Saturday and took a bunch of pictures. It was a nice day and we had fun taking a walk and taking the pictures. I used a template that I got from Michelle's blog Scrappy Town and the paper and elements are from Bubblescrap Designs A Brand New Outfit.

This LO is from week 3 of the challenge. I was supposed to show my typical day. I used the kit Love Checker by Rucola Designs. I really love the colors in this kit.

So now I have to go work on my other P52 LO for this week which is supposed to be themed comfy. REALLY? How many pictures of me in my pajamas will I scrap this year? I find it a bit ironic that I actually bought myself two new pair of pajamas so I wouldn't look like a total idiot in all the Christmas pictures (and if you know me, you'll know that I had been wearing the same ripped-up plaid LL Bean pajamas for the past 10 years), but this is getting a little silly. I think I've had Jerry take my picture in my pajamas about 10 times in the past few weeks! I guess I'll try to think of something else that's comfy. Maybe my focus is too narrow.

He was so cute and he posed whenever I asked him to. I used a new kit called Love Checker from Rucola Designs and you can get it at MLAS really soon. Monday Holidays are Awesome

It's Sunday night, but who cares, because tomorrow is a holiday. No school for me! I have a ton or correcting to do and an exam to make, but I can do all of that in my pajamas...so yippeeee!
Here's a LO I made of my favorite Christmas present ever. I got this snow globe from Julianna and it is awsome. I used a kit called My Kinda Christmas by Dream Big Designs.

Time is Flying By

There's a new template available at My Life and Scrap for the February desktop challenge. My 30th wedding anniversary is on Feb 2nd, so I made my LO with a our wedding picture, one from 1995 and one from now. Damn, the years went by so fast.

Speaking of time going by too fast. This is Julianna's 4th grade picture. She'll be 10 this year and that is too much for me to handle! She'll turn 10 and then I'll turn 50 and then Kerin will turn 30! All I can say is OMG!

Last night there was a speed scrap at MLAS and I did this LO with a kit from Bubblescrap Designs called A Brand New Outfit. There are now weekly speed scraps on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons, so mark you calendar and come and join the fun.

The week two Project52 photo topic was "food". So I did these two LO's of some food I had this week.

A Long Week Deserves a Long Weekend

It was a long week and people in public education are starting to get cranky. I'm trying to ignore it all and just do my job without worrying about what is coming along down the road. There's not much I can do about it anyway, so why let it get to me.
So far I'm doing pretty well with my resolutions. No vodka since New Year's Eve and exercising and reading more than ever. My energy level and mood are better and that is probably is why I'm not letting the stress at work get to me.

Busy Week

It's starting to seem like this week is going by way too fast and that never happens to me. But today was a busy day and tomorrow is looking the same. After school meetings and working late is not why I became I teacher. BUT, I have been managing to squeeze in a few LO's in between meetings, working, and exercising.
And so far I've been doing pretty well on my new year's resolutions. I've had a couple of glasses of wine in the past few days, but I haven't had any hard alcohol and I've been exercising most days and reading for a while at night before bed. So far, so good.
For this first LO I multi-tasked and did two challenges at once. It's for the template and lyrics challenges at MLAS. It took me a while, because I had to search through a years worth of pictures to come up with one for each month. I like the idea that it shows a quick year-in-review.

This next LO is for the journaling part of Project52 at MLAS. It was hard to think of my "most" embarrassing moment, and this LO only shows pictures of one particular night of fun. But it basically explains how most of my embarrassing moments come about. I used the lyrics from Blake Shelton's song If I have One Drink and I think the song says it all.

Speed Scrapping in My Pajamas

So far, so good with the New Year's resolutions. I exercised 4 days, drank a lot less and went to bed early to read almost every night. I had a glass of wine one night and a beer one night earlier in the week and last night we went out after school and I had a few beers. BUT... I completely avoided the vodka, and I think if I can stay away from that, I will be fine.

I don't have any new LO's to share yet, but there is a speed scrap today at MLAS and I plan on being there. I'm still in my pajamas and it's so cold out that I think I may stay in all day, so why bother even getting dressed, right? I will come back later post my speed scrap LO.

New Year's Resolutions

Everybody over at My Life and Scrap is making great new year's resolutions to get in shape in 2010. If you are looking for scrapping buddies and some motivation to get in shape and live healthy in 2010 you should definitely go over to MLAS and check out all the new challenges. I have a few simple resolutions of my own, but I'm back to work and it's only Wednesday and I'm soooo tired. Mostly I want get in shape, and in order to do that, I have to exercise more and eat and drink less. And, I want to read more, so I have decided to get into bed an hour earlier each night and turn off the tv and computer and read till I fall asleep. Sounds simple right? I'll let you know.

I'm still working on my Christmas picture LO's, but these three I kind of cheated on. Before Christmas I made a few quickpages for some of the designers at MLAS new releases. This first LO is from a page I made for Rucola Designs from her Hard Feelings kit and I added some word art by @jacquies.

I still haven't put away all of my Christmas decorations and I'm just ignoring them hoping they will put themselves away. Maybe I'll be in the mood to do that over the weekend. Or.....maybe not, because I hear there are 2 speed scraps this weekend at MLAS. One on Friday night at 9 (EST) and one Saturday afternoon at 2 (EST). I love the speed scraps and the chats are alway a lot of fun. Maybe I'll squeeze some cleaning in between scrapping.

Project 52 - Photos & Journaling

My Life and Scrap started some new challenges for 2010. The first on I did, I had to create a LO using a template with pictures of something "new". Since I got a new camera and I bought everyone in the family new pajamas, I decided to make a couple of pages of our family-pajama-night-photo-shoot. I used the December Mega kit from MLAS called Crazy Christmas.

This next LO is for the other Project 52 Challenge, called My Life IN Scrap. The goal was to create a LO that told about the lessons I learned in 2009. I rarely scrap pictures of myself, so I decided to go a little outside of my comfort zone and use a picture of myself taken at Christmas. One of my scrapping goals for 2010 is to do more journaling on my pages, so I like the idea of this weekly challenge. For this LO I used a new kit from Bubblescrap Designs called A Brand New Outfit. She will have it free on her blog starting tomorrow. So be sure to check it out.

This last LO I did for a speed scrap at MLAS on Saturday. The server kept crashing and the chatting was difficult, but the speed scrap was still fun and I like the way this LO turned out. It was from "Cookie Day" and I used a kit from RebeccaPSP called Rainbow Cake. I hear that the girls at MLAS are planning weekly Friday night and Saturday afternoon speed scraps.

Scrapping Christmas Memories

The second day the kids were here they helped me decorate the tree. I just let them do it any way they wanted and just watched them have fun with it. Even Jack tried hard to get some ornaments to stay on the tree, but mostly he just stuffed them in between the branches.
For this LO I used Rucola Design's Golden Holiday.

This is not your typical family portrait, but I love it anyway. Last April Jerry, Katie, Krista and I all got the same tattoo while we were all in North Carolina. Kerin wasn't there, but we sent her a picture and she got hers done in RI. This was the first time we were all together to check them out and to see how much bigger Kerin's tatto is compared to her sister's. For this LO I used the December Mega Colab from MLAS.

Tomorrow's LO's will be of family portraits of everyone wearing pajamas. They will be my first LO's for some new challenges at MLAS called Project 52. These challenges will run each week of the year. It's New Year's Eve and I'm relaxing. All the kids are gone and most of the messes are cleaned up. So it's time for me to start scrapping the Christmas pictures. I have sooo many and I can't wait to get at it.
I did this one for the template challenge at MLAS and I used the Christmas blogtrain freebie. This was picture was taken on Day 1 of our holiday week. Katie and her family arrived on 12/21 and I was out.of.my.mind.with excitement to see them. As soon as they got here they wanted to go out and play in the snow, so I went out with them and we ran around and had some fun.

And since it's New Year's Eve, I had to get my new desktop done, so I did this LO for the desktop challenge. For this LO I used Dream Big Design's Polar Play. I love these pictures of the kids and I'm sure I will use them again in other LO's.

It was a great Christmas and I plan to document each one of the days with a LO. There are enough challenges at MLAS to keep me motivated and starting tomorrow there will be a whole new set that I can't wait to try.

I Quit

I have had enough of the holidays and I am quitting early. I am skipping the whole New Years Eve and Day thing. I am tired and I've had enough. My Christmas celebrations started on December 21 when Katie and her family arrived and ended today when Krista left. It was magical and exhausting! We laughed and cried, hugged and kissed, played and worked, cooked and cleaned....we were loud and happy and together and it was crazy and now it is time to rest. I took about 600 pictures and maybe 50 are good enough to scrap, but the rest will tell the whole story of Christmas 2009. I am just happy that everyone had a good time and we all got along.... Actually we stole our Christmas theme from Brandi, who quoted Sponge Bob, who said "Don't b a jerk, it's Christmas". At times we needed this focus.

I did a couple of random LO's while waiting for everyone to arrive before Christmas. They are both of my nieces Emily and Meredith. One is from the Halloween (I used the October Mega Kit from MLAS) and the other is from summer of 2004 (I used First Dip of Summer by Samceline) .

And now I'm off to organize and scrap some of my Christmas pictures, clean my house and watch some tv...all while staying in my pj's.

Today Katie and her family will arrive from North Carolina. I am so excited! Yesterday I got all the presents wrapped and hidden and found all the air mattresses and extra blankets and pillows. I made a menu for the next week and bought most of the food I'll need. I tried to remove some of the things that Jack might get into, but I'm sure I missed a few.
I have my camera battery all charged up, and now I'm just going to sit and wait! I will take hundreds of pictures. Close to 18" of snow fell yesterday and I'm sure the kids will want to spend some time jumping around in it!
I can't wait!!!!!
There are a ton of sales going on at MLAS. You should definitely check them out! I am loading up on Christmas kits and when the next two weeks are over, then I will scrap, scrap, scrap!

One More Week!

I am very excited about Christmas and the weeks surrounding it. I have two weeks off from school and my kids are all coming home to visit. That's the good news. The bad news is, that it always gets hectic and as hard as I try to make sure it all goes smoothly, somehow, someway, somebody is not going to be happy. That is my love/hate relationship with holidays. (and people in general). I'm good one on one, but crowds and parties are not my strong point. But this year I am trying to be positive and I really am looking foward to the ensuing chaos!
I have been busy shopping and otherwise preparing for the holidays, but I did manage to scrap a few pages this weekend. This one is of my daughter Kerin and her husband during their trip to Disney at Thanksgiving. I used a kit from a new designer at MLAS. BrittBree is her name and the kit is called Breath of Spring.

This LO is from the same kit. It's my sister's grandaughter Ava. I made this one for the speed scrap at MLAS. Speed scrap chats are a lot of fun and there's another one on December 18th at 8:00 pm.

Bubble Scrap Design Grab Bag

My sister Missy sent me some of her picture CD's so I should have plenty to work with for a while. I needed to scrap a few pages with Bubblescrap Designs newest kit Cheerful Holidays and I found a couple of really cute pictures of Willa to work with. Scrapping Slump

I guess I've been in a scrapping slump. Last week I had a bad cold and it wiped me out. There were a million things going on a work and it took all my energy to make it through the day. I came home every day and crashed.
I did make a few LO's this weekend. I have one of Krista and Joe that I made with Rucola Design's kit called Hard Feelings.

And this on is of Kerin and Luke's Thankgiving trip to Disney with Luke's family. I used Dream Big Designs Dreamin' of Vacation and a template by Kate Designs.

Counting Down to Christmas

I started decorating my house for Christmas. I'm not usually big into the decorating, but this year my girls are all coming home for the week, so I am getting excited and the decorating is putting me in the Christmas spirit!
I even tried to decorate my computer!
There was a desktop challenge at MLAS and Tanyia of Pretty Pixels Designs made up a great template. I made one LO and wasn't satisfied, then I tried again and although I liked it, I saw one in the gallery at MLAS that I liked more, so I made one more and copied some of Brandi's ideas from her LO.
I changed my desktop three times in the last week and it isn't even December yet. Maybe that's why I'm not into decorating my house. It never looks right and I change it around constantly! Thanks Tanyia for the template and thanks to Brandi and everyone else for their inspiration.

Reflecting on Aging

Last night I watched the movie UP on blu-ray. It was a great movie experience all around. And, although it was a cartoon, it definitely wasn't just for kids. There were several scenes that brought tears to my eyes but over all the movie made me smile. Basically the theme was that as we go through life it may seem as though we are always striving for our dream goal, or waiting for the day when we can have what we want, but the truth is, that the real adventures in our lives are the things that happen every day. I think as scrappers we all know this and that is the reason why we feel the need to scrap and document our day to day lives.
In my case there were times when I was too busy or overwhelmed with day to day life to be very reflective at the time that the memories were occurring. Sure, I enjoyed and cherished very many happy times with my family, but sometimes I think I missed a lot by being too busy or preoccupied with details. It may be that as I grow older I become more reflective on my past experiences, and that is why I have truly enjoyed scrapping the past 3o years of my life. I spent time arranging the pictures on the page and thinking about the day they were taken. It has been a great way to relive the memories and adventures.
I find it so refreshing that the young people I have met through scrapping enjoy their day to day adventures with their families. I love reading their blogs and seeing pictures of their fun times.
My daughters are great at getting the most out of every day. We were not together as a family for Thanksgiving, but I know they each enjoyed the day in their own way. Kerin went to Disney with her husband and in-laws, Katie spent the day playing in her yard with her husband and kids and then made cookies and had pizza for dinner, and Krista (who is only 23) had over 20 of her friends in LA over to her house for a full-blown Thankgiving dinner.
This was not a traditional Thanksgiving day for our family, but plenty of pictures were taken (and sent to mom for scrapping) and many memories were made.
I personally spent the weekend relaxing and planning for Christmas. My girls (and their families) will all be home for the whole week and I plan to enjoy every minute of the time we all have together.
I didn't do any LO's in the past couple of days. I made a few QP's for Creative Chaos and Rucola Design's, but you'll have to wait till they post them and I get pictures to add to them before you get to see them.

Now I'm off to stalk the Facebook pages of my family to find some pictures to scrap. I'm sure there are some good ones...they all promised me there would be!

I'm Taking this Holiday Off!

My husband and I decided to skip Thanksgiving this year and just relax. He made a delicious seafood casserole with rice for dinner last night and we just spent the night watching TV. No other cooking or cleaning or preparations....nice.
This morning he made me hash and eggs with cinnamon raisin french toast and then we took a walk to watch the Woonsocket High School vs. Cumberland High School Thanksgiving Day football game. We saw some friends and had some fun (oh yeah, we won the game 27-14) and now we're back home relaxing. We're having shrimp cocktail for lunch later and we're going to watch the Macy's parade that I recorded on our new HUGE TV. Later on we'll watch some football and maybe a movie and if we get hungry again we'll take a ride and find a resaurant. Totally non-traditional, and perfectly fine by me.
Here are a couple of LO's I did using Rucola Designs First Choice. Her designs will be available at MLAS very soon. This one is my grandaughter Julianna and her friend Dylan at the aquarium in North Carolina. I wasn't there, but I heard it was a fun day.

This one is of pictures from my daughter's best friend Sylvie's graduation from college. She recieved a masters degree in physical therapy and we are so proud of her. I scraplifted this LO design from Colleen over at Rainamoon Scraps. Thanks Colleen.

I Got a New TV!

Today I am thankful for my new 55" HDTV and blu-ray player with Netflix movie streaming. I love technology and this new TV with all of it's options is amazing to me. I remember when I was a kid and there was going to be a special show on TV and all of us kids would gather around the 20" TV like it was some big event. And it was. We waited all year to watch the Wizard of Oz or the Charlie Brown Holiday specials. Now I can watch almost anything anytime. And I will. I hope we get lots of snow this winter so I have an excuse to sit around all day watching movies. Of course I still have to work and maybe do a little housework once in a while, but I know I can digiscrap and watch TV at the same time, so this is going to be great!

I used Bubblescrap Design's A Golden Christmas (available at My Life and Scrap) to do this LO of my daughter Kerin. She recently began selling Lia Sophia Jewelry as a side job. She is a preschool special needs teacher during the day and this is her second job. When she did her first party last weekend, she was so cute I just had to take some pictures. I am so proud of her.
In the LO I wrote a letter to Santa asking him to give her a baby. She's been married a little over a year now and she really wants to have a baby sometime soon.

This second LO is of my husband and grandson from when he visited with them in North Carolina in early November. I used the kit Boys will be Boys from Creative Chaos. Her kits are available at My Life and Scrap.

I Don't Love Holidays

There, I said it... Don't get me wrong, I love my family and I love spending time with them, but I hate the expectations of holidays. I always feel bad when the people I love have an idea of how a special day "should" be and then are dissapointed when it doesn't turn out perfect. I have much more fun when it's a regular day that turns out great. Lets not have any preconcieved notion of how the day "should" be. I like the days when we say...Hey, let's make a fire and roast marshmallows in the backyard...or, let's watch a movie with the projector on a sheet hanging off the porch in the back yard. Hey, here's an idea...if we can't all get together on Christmas let's have "cookie day" and just hang out all day and bake cookies while drinking coffee spiked with bailey's and kahlua. I've had so many of these great "regular" days with my kids and grandkids that I really don't care what happens on Thanksgiving. I'm really just thankful that wherever they are and whatever they are doing, they are healthy and happy and with people that they love and that love them.

Speaking of regular days, last week my husband just decided he needed to see our daughter Katie and our grandkids. He drove 15 hours in one day to get there and surprise them. He needed a break from life and I think they appreciated the surprise visit.

I scrapped this page of the day they spent at the aquarium. This was one of those regular days that turned out great. I used Dream Big Designs kit called Scare Those Crows and it is available at My Life and Scrap. Cheri makes great kits and they all have the cutest elements. I will definitely be showing off some more of her kits soon.

And this LO is of my daughter Krista and her boyfriend Joe on a hike in LA... Another regular day that turned out great. For this LO I used Urban Jungle by RebeccaPSP and it is available at My Life and Scrap. Rebecca's kits are probably my favorites.

All three of my daughters are grown and have lives of their own, but I get to see through their pictures that they all appreciate the greatness of a regular day and for that I am most thankful.

We Keep Chips in the Closet

Now that Jerry and I don't have any kids living at home we have gotten into some really bad habits. And for our punishment tomorrow we have to go to the doctors after only six months going by, to have our cholesterol checked. Are you kidding me??? We eat REALLY healthy. Today I had organic oatmeal for breakfast and yogurt with a banana and walnuts for lunch and then a clementine for a snack. And when I came home from work I ate dinner which consisted of a small serving of sweet and sour keilbasa, broccolli and rice. BUT, then it was cocktail hour and I had a couple of vodka and grapefruit juices with some chips....CHIPS AND VODKA....that is what is going to kill me. I love a couple of drinks to help me relax and I love chips. I love chips so much that I don't even bother to ever bring the bag back downstairs to the kitchen. I keep them in the closet right by the couch so I can get at them with minimal effort. At one time I considered putting Krista's old dorm fridge upstairs in the den, but I think the big trip down the stairs to get the refills in the kitchen cuts down on the number of drinks we have. But the chips...they can stay upstairs in the closet with my slippers. I know that's really weird. But it is convenient.
So I did a couple of LO's and this one was for the template challenge at MLAS. I love Kate Design's templates because they give me some focus in my LO's. This one doesn't even have any extra elements or paper. I love the pictures so much that I thought that was all it needed.

This LO is of a photo shoot Jerry did of Cadence in her princess costume. He says she's a natural in front of the camera but she has such an attitude that sometimes it's a little scary. I used Bubblescrap Design's Classic Bouquet for this LO.

Today I Am Thankful that My Husband is Home

Today Jerry came home from his escape to North Carolina to visit Katie and Bernie and the kids. I think he missed me (and the peace and quiet) and he's happy to be home. But he had a great time and came back with over 200 pictures. Of course he's not the best photographer in the world (don't tell him I said that) and only a handful of the pictures are any good (I told him he did a great job), but he tried!
But while he was gone it was a rainy Saturday and I spent the day clearing my DVR by watching hour after hour of tv while I scrapped and finished trying to update my new (used) laptop. Everytime I tried to do something, I realize I hadn't downloaded the program or the software or the update. grrrrrrr I just hope it's all set now.
While I was being a lazy slug I did two LO's with the November collab kit from MLAS called Quiet Nature. There are two kits for November and they are both available now in the MLAS shop. The first one is Jerry teaching Katie and Julianna how to make spring rolls. And the second one is Julianna and her best friend Alexis on a trip they took together in October. I really love the rich colors in this kit and you can see a lot more LO's in the MLAS gallery.

Every day this month until Thanksgiving, think of one thing that you are thankful for and post it as your status...I saw this on my niece Shannon's Facebook page and then posted it on my status and then several of my friends got in on it and I'm sure many of their friend's did too. I know it sounds simple, but it just makes me happy to think about spreading good thoughts. I believe in positive energy and I wish more people could be happy and thankful for the simple things in life.
Something I'm not so thankful for is that my computer crashed at the beginning of the week. But what I am REALLY thankful for is that I had backed up many of my files and programs on my EHD so it only took a few days to get the back-up computer (I'm thankful that I had that too) loaded with my programs and now I think I'm in pretty good shape. I have some new kits to scrap with from MLAS and so far I did these two LO's with one of them called Home is Where the Heart is. These kits will be available soon in the MLAS shop.

My husband is still in North Carolina having fun with Katie and Bernie and the kids and he promises that he is taking a lot of pictures. So next week I should have more pictures to scrap. I am thankful for that!

Happy Veteran's Day

Everyone should thank a veteran today. I sent my own personal veteran and his wife (my SIL & daughter) a surprise this week.
Jerry got in the car at 4:30 am and drove to North Carolina (it's a 750 mile drive and he did it in 13 hours) So he could visit with the grandkids and lend a helping hand to Katie and Bernie. They've all been sick and Bernie's been training really hard and Jerry was feeling lonely, so it all works out well. Of course he polished up the TBird convertible for the drive and then drove right into a whole lotta rain! BUT he's still with the kids and I'm sure he will have a great time.

So I thought I would have a few days with not too much to do and I could get a lot of scrapping done...and wouldn't you know...my laptop crrrraaaasssshhhheeeddd.
It just flickered and then died. I saw it coming and had a lot saved on an EHD and I bought a used laptop for a back-up, but then when I tried to use the "back-up" computer, I realized I had to re-install photoshop and all my favorites and I lost all the stuff I had downloaded in the past week and some pictures and well...some stuff I can't even remember.
So now I have a list of things I should do, could do, need to do, have to do....OMG!
But I had already uploaded these three LO's to websites, so I just downloaded them back to my computer. Gotta love the internet.
This one was for a speed scrap at DSDI. I used Bubblescrap Designs Twisted Halloween. (and now I don't have that kit anymore)

And this is another LO I did for a speed scrap at DSDI and I used Bubblescrap Designs Worth the Fall (I don't have this kit anymore either)

International Digital Scrapbooking Day

It was a quiet week around here. I had Tuesday off from work for election day and we had exams on Wednesday and Thursday, so school was kinda mellow and the kids were sort of focused. It's fun to watch them work (for a change) They do get serious about exams.
My daughter's friend got elected to the school committee here in Woonsocket, so we are very excited about that and so proud or her! She is only 22 and just out of college for a year, so this it a big accomplishment for her.
So apparantly Saturday is digital scrapbooking day. Who knew? Well the girls at My Life and Scrap are getting on board and are going to have some fun with it. There will be some sales (of course) but also a blog train and a speed scrap. So come back in a couple of days for details on the blog train (because I think that means more free stuff) and the speed scrap (because I know that means some fun)! Here's the ad for the sales.

My Little Wonderland

It's election day and we are having a city election here in Woonsocket. My youngest daughter's friend is running for school committee, so we are really excited and very proud.
So I had the day off because the schools are used for polling places and I guess it wouldn't be safe for the children to have strangers wandering in and out of the building. Well, that may be true at the elementary schools, but at the high school where I work, I think it may be the other way around. I wouldn't want some little old lady going to cast her ballot for mayor to have to walk the halls with the crazy teenagers that I deal with everyday! So we had to keep everyone safe and give me a great day off.
So I used my day off to do this LO for the lyrics challenge at MLAS using Bubblescrap Design's newest kit called My Little Wonderland. I think the kit is adorable and it is on sale for $3.00 and if you want to see more there are a few more LO's made with it in the gallery at MLAS that you should check out.
These pictures are of my friend's twins. The small pictures are from July when the weighed less than 2 pounds and the middle picture is more recent. They are both doing well and weigh around 7 pounds. Kylah and Shyrah are truly miracle babies.

Halloween Pics and New November Challenges

The new challenges are up at MLAS and you should go over and get started on them. I did the scraplift challenge already because now that I finally have more pictures to scrap, I lost my scrapping mojo.
The LO that we lifted was from Manda called Follow your Path.
Last weekend when I was desperate for new pictures, I sorted through a box of old ones and I found these of my in-laws from 2002. It seems like such a short time ago, but since then they have both passed away. I like looking at these pictures and remembering the good times. For this LO I used the kit Falling Into Autumn by JennCK Designs.

I also did this LO of my grandaughter Julianna from last night's trick-or-treating. I used one of the MLAS Mega's for October called Scarey Halloween. She makes such a beautiful witch don't you think? I have a bunch more Halloween pictures of my grandkids from my daughter Katie and I have some from my daughter Krista too, but Krista's are of her and her friends (who are all in their 20's) so that's a whole different category. Maybe I'll do some of those tomorrow.

Looong Week

It was one of those weeks when I wasn't the cranky person, but everyone else was! Yeah really, IT WASN'T ME! Halloween is almost here and you would think that would be a good thing, but around here that almost means the beginning of winter. We "fall back" with the time change this weekend, so next week that means it will be dark at 5:00 and if cocktail hour starts then...well...it's not a good thing. All I can say it's a damn good thing I don't live in Alaska.

I did a LO with a pic of MIL and FIL with Bubblescrap Design's kit Worth the Fall for a challenge at DSDI. I heard about a speed scrap there and went over to check out the site. Everyone there was very welcoming, but alas, there are not enough hours in the day to be loyal to two scrap sites. MLAS is my firs love. I might visit there again though.

Mye -Bubblescrap Designs- is really into her designing and she is coming up with some great stuff. I made some QP's with her kits and I should have some freebies to post for the next few days.

Twisted Halloween from Bubblescrap Designs and a Freebie from MLAS

It was another lazy weekend for me. I did a little scrapping and a little housework, and that's about it. It rained all day Saturday, so that was my excuse to sit around in the house all day. It was BEAUTIFUL on Sunday, so that was my excuse to sit out on the front porch all day. As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I am the queen of excuses.

I was getting DANGEROUSLY low on pictures to scrap, so I harrassed my daughter and a couple of my friends for some pics and now I'm all set for a while.

I used my grandkids for the MLAS font and scrapmix challenge. I did them both in one LO because this is the last week for the challenges there and I am running out of time.

I used a picture of my friends beautiful daughter Kylah for the speed scrap. This little girl is one of a set of miracle twins that were born 3 months premature (3 months ago) and are thriving and doing very well. I thank God for that every day. I plan on using these precious models again soon.

The next speed scrap at MLAS is next Sunday at 1 PM (EST).

So it was a busy week here with work and meetings and tonight we had parent/teacher conferences. I love the fact that the parents are concerned with their kid's school work, but all the talking is exhausting and lately it makes me feel so old. My Busy Week and Some Freebies

So it was a busy week and I didn't exercise at all.
Monday-holiday (no exercising on holidays)
Tuesday-zoning board hearing (long story)
Wednesday-haircut and dinner out
Thursday-nails done and dinner out
So, you can't cook dinner after getting your haircut or your nails done and you can't exercise after a dinner out. SO this week did not lend itself to exercising. (And it's not MY fault!) So maybe next week then? Oh, I know it's only Thursday, but I never exercise on Friday (I go out with my friends after work) and I usually like to relax on the weekends. So again I say, Maybe next week.

I have accepted an offer from Mye of Bubblescrap Designs to be on her creative team. She has just ventured into the world of designing and I already like what I see. I did several LO's with her kits already and posted them in the gallery at MLAS. Her kits will be for sale at Ivy Scraps. She has a couple more stores in the works, but she will announce them later.

Happy Columbus Day

So it's a holiday here and there's no school (sometimes I love my job). We have a weekend Autumnfest celebration here in Woonsocket and usually it's a lot of fun. BUT, maybe I'm feeling my age, because this year, I'm just not into it. I usually spend this morning at a parade, but today I decided to stay home and watch the parade on tv (how sad is that?) I'm already sick of the cold weather. It's only 47 degrees right now and that's too cold to be sitting outside waiting for the marching bands to come by.

Instead, I will sit on my couch and watch the parade on tv and digiscrap at the same time. Maybe I have an addiction?

Falling off the Wagon and a QP Freebie

So did you hear that sound? That was me falling off the wagon. My dear husband had a bad day at work (he teaches middle school in an urban district) so we went out for a couple of drinks after work. So I managed to make it to 4 days of no alcohol and 4 days of waling on my treadmill. BUT, tomorrow I have to start the count again!

There are so many things happening at MLAS and I'm having so much fun getting in the middle of it all. The October challenges are all under way. And the new mega kit is almost ready and there are a whole lot of sales going on. I made my first QP's and figured out how to load them to 4share, and I think that I'm so smaaht that I figured that out. (I'm from RI)

Three Days in a Row!

Yes that's right, I have walked on my treadmill 3 days in a row. I need the exercise, but I always have an excuse. Too tired, too hungry, too many other things to do, my computer is calling me...you get the idea. Well I have a doctor's appointment in November and although I consider myself in decent shape, at last check my weight was up and so was my cholesterol....so...I have to get my butt off the couch and be a little more active.
I also have to try to give up the nightly cocktail. My excuse for having it is...it relaxes me, my job is stressful, I just like it. But I'm sure the alcohol is not helping with the weight or cholesterol or the motivation to exercise.
Soooo, it's been 3 days of exercising and not drinking. I felt like if I posted it here, I would be more motivated to continue. You are my support group.

Anyway...about My Life and Scrap

It Feels Like Fall

School is in full swing, the leaves are starting to change and there's a chill in the air. I do love this time of year, because the air is so fresh and all the leaves are turning to beautiful deep rich colors. This past weekend we celebrated my parent's 50th anniversary and I scrapped some pages using RebeccaPSP's Tulipping. It has beautiful fall colors.

I used some of these LO's for the challenges at MLAS. If you participate in the challenges, you can get points towards free stuff and many of the challenges have a prize just for playing.

Fall Fun

This fall weather is giving me some allergy problems, but otherwise I love the change in the weather. I'm back to work and it's a busy day, but I still have plenty of time for scapping at night and fun on the weekends. Unless of course it was the party weekend at MLAS last weekend and then I stayed in sweatpants all weekend and sat on the couch and scrapped like crazy. Here's a LO I did for the scrap mix challenge. Keeping Busy and Still Waiting for MLAS

According to Linda's blog it seems like MLAS might be back up again soon! So that is good news. I have been patiently waiting, while trying to adjust to a new school year. We have had so many meetings in the past two weeks, that I have spent as much time out of the classroom as in it. And although I hate to admit it, I'd rather be with the kids. (dont' tell them that)
My neice got married on Sunday and I have offered to make her a an album. I used Rebecca's blog freebies (thanks Rebecca!)

MLAS Challenges

The MLAS site will be down for a couple more days while they upgrade to a new server. I am missing my online community, but luckily I had a couple of LO's started before the crash. I've been so busy starting a new school year and starting on the AD Team at MLAS, that I haven't had a chance to scrap in a couple of days.
I am really enjoying being on the A-Team, but I feel as though I still have so much to learn.
Today I'd like to post about a great new kit by JLo called School Days, that you can get at MLAS. I'm kinda partial to the theme and plan on using it to make some bulletin board posts for my classroom. Come on by and check it out.

Here are a couple more pages I did for Kerin's album. It's the last weekend before school starts and we're getting some bad weather. Partly from a tropical storm that is off the coast. So I guess I will spend the weekend sitting on my butt working on some pages. Next week the fun begins and I won't have so much leisure time.

New External Hard Drive

This digi-scrapping hobby is forcing me to buy a few new toys. Today I got an external hardrive to hold all my scrap booking kits and pictures. I also finally bought a lap desk, so my legs are not heating up and my laptop isn't overheating. I'm shopping for a camera, but still not sure what to do about that.
I made a few pages for Kerin's album.
Only 3 more days till school starts again.

The Countdown Continues

It seems like it was just a short time ago that we were counting down to the last day of school and the beginning of summer. Here I am now thinking about next Monday and the beginning of a new year. It was an awesome summer, so I guess I have to say that I am ready to go back to work. I might be singing a different song in a couple of weeks.

We went to Maine and NH with Luke and Kerin for the weekend. Maine was great, we saw a couple of Portland Sea Dogs games, went on a Windjammer cruise, a brewery tour, visited the Longfellow homestead and basically had a lot of fun.
In NH we went to Keith's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and a great party.
Now I have this one last week to do what ever else is left to do for the summer.

Here are a couple more LO's I did for the challenges at MLAS. For hiking with Bernie I used Mama Mia Mandy's Mini Kit Effervescence.
For A Day at the Zoo I used The Wired Garden By Rebecca PSP.
Since we got back from LA last week I have scrambled to get the challenges for the first half of the month finshed.
I also had to spend some time away from my computer. In "real" life, we had lunch at Barbara and Kaf's new house on Friday and went clamming with Kerin and Luke on Satureday. Today we're heading to the Lake to enjoy all the clams that they picked yesterday.
Only 2 more weeks till we go back to work.

Starting Over

I have an obsession with order, so I'm starting over with this blog. I have posted a slide show of all of my pages since I started in April. I sorted by years for all my digital pics and then started scanning and kinda, sorted the pics by child. I'm working on my oldest daughter kerin's pages now and trying to keep current with any new pics.
I guess now I should try to pretty-up the blog with some color.
